"GIFT" is the triple single release by the Japanese boyband Kanjani8. This release is three singles making up their 11th, 12th, and 13th single. It spanned across three days during Christmas week. Each release two different songs on each one, except for Green which has three songs, with album art representing the color theme of each single. GIFT was advertised to be a " GIFT to the fans " by the group themselves, so in result the three singles were sold at a special price of 888 yen and were a limited press release.
The "GIFT" singles have a total of seven different Christmas themed songs, which some were written and/or composed by members of the group themselves. Shota Yasuda designed the label for the single while Kanjani8 collectively took the pictures of the backstage activities as well providing the creative ideas for the jacket design. Like the previous singles since "It's My Soul", member Tadayoshi Okura dresses up as Santa Claus as the singles' gag for this release. He appears in the outfit on "Gift ~Green~", completing the group picture that spans across the back of all three singles.
On December 29, 2009, it was announced that Kanjani8 had broken an Oricon record by having three singles released on three consecutive days monopolize the top ten weekly rankings by gaining the top three. This had been the first time ever for an album or single release to do this and when asked about it, member You Yokoyama had express that "Being the first to have a three day consecutive release and be the first to have it in the top 1, 2, 3 spots make me really happy."[1]
